We are such a bubble wrap socieity..we can't save everyone.

There is this effort going on now to support a Federal law creating a graduated drivers license to reduce teen auto deaths. There is a Facebook page dedicated to this cause called Save11, that is a reference to the 11 teens killed daily in auto crashes.

Loosing a child period is horrible, no matter the cause. But I can't help but look deeper into the numbers of an effort to create a Federal law that will impact a huge population. According to the CDC 7% of the US population is between the ages of 15 and 19. That's about 21 million. I've seen other numbers that suggest it might be closer to 15 million. It is a stat that about 4000 teens die in auto accidents a year. Looking at stats put out the US Dept of Tranportation 28% of teens killed in auto accidents were alcohol related. If you back out the alcohol related driving deaths, you are left with 2880 who die from inmature, novice driver cause. That is only .014% of the teen population. Do we really need a national law to protect .014% of the teen population? Or put another way do we really need a law to punish 99.986% of the teens that have been doing it right?

Obama is a GOD...I can see that now

If I had any doubt before, I'm now certain Obama must be GOD. Here is a man, opps! GOD, who is all knowing, all seeing to the extend that he can recreate, improve and run the automobile industry, banking industry, medical/healthcare and now the entire financial industry. Wow!...This man has a lot of balls. How in the hell can we, as a nation believe that this one guy who, before now, only organized poor inner city slackers, can know so much, about so many, complex industries? There is no way a top healthcare provider would hire a top level automobile executive, or a major bank would hire a top level healthcare executive to run their organizations. WHY? Because it takes some inside, long term, in depth understanding of what the industry is all about to run them successfully. Obama, or we the people, are now majority owners of major automobile manufacturers, and banks, but he claims he doesn’t want to manage the company. The day I hear Ican, Pickens, or Buffet say they want to take a majority ownership of a company but not have a say on the board or the operations of the company, I will know they have slipped and hit their head on the toilet. The government already has total control over so many other failed complex aspects of our economy and infrastructure that we should easily see we are so screwed! We are so headed to a control economy. Obama, is going to create so many unintended consequences we won’t recognize this country in 10 years.

Teacher Appreciation Week...Give Me A Break!

I was just grabbing a quick bite to eat down in the kitchen and noticed a flier from the school declaring this week "Teacher Appreciation Week" A WEEK!!!...Give me a break. A whole WEEK!!! Every day my kid is supposed to take something to his teacher. Whatever happened to just a day? Heck, whatever happen to just a hug and a thank you on the last day of school?

It's not like they don't get paid to teach. We act as if it is a volunteer position. And don't give me this crap they don't make enough. Teacher's make plenty. If it ain't enough for them, then let them sell their skills to the next highest bidder. My dad never had Pilot Appreciation Week, Day or most times not even a thanks for getting us to the ground.

I don't ever recall any time set aside for other professions or jobs either. You know what ...next week is now Person that Gives Me My Coffee At Starbucks Appreciation Week. No that won't work...they expect a tip every time they do that, above what they get paid. Hmmmm? How about "Financial Advisor Appreciation Week" I don't get tips, I'm constantly having to defend getting paid what it is I get paid (not much) and give away a lot of free advise every day. I deem every Financial Advisor worthy of an APPRECIATION WEEK.
